Resolutions to 2010

Hi Folks!

If you read the post below, you will see an invitation to think and write in English about your resolutions to 2010. That was a great surprise to me when I saw a comment of Pedro Leitão, a cute and fantastic student I had. I admire him a lot and I am happy he read and colaborated with the blog. Pedro wrote about working and studying with less pressure and I believe it is one of the resolutions of most of people. But, what can we do to have this dream coming true? What are your plans to slow down and live with more quality? Leave a comment!

What are your resolutions for 2010?

Normally we say that we will have time for family, friends, love and for studying something we are interested at..but how to put the things into practice? What are your strategies? Write here in the comment and happy 2010!

Every little thing she does is magic

Hey guys, how long no see you! So, here I am again.

To break the ice, a song from The Police.

The clip is old fashioned due to Anelise, but is classic due to 80's lovers, so the lyric is very romantic.

I would like my love composed that to me or just sang this to me in a love proof. What about you?

Do you have someone that makes your like magic or that simply turns anything magic around you? Who is this person? Share! Write a comment! Even in English, even in Portuguese.

Lyric:

Of the feelings I have for her in my heart
Every time that I come near her
I just lose my nerve
As Ive done from the start
Every little thing she does is magic
Everything she do just turns me on
Even though my life before was tragic
Now I know my love for her goes on
Do I have to tell the story
Of a thousand rainy days since we first met
Its a big enough umbrella
But its always me that ends up getting wet
Every little thing she does is magic
Everything she do just turns me on
Even though my life before was tragic
Now I know my love for her goes on
I resolve to call her up a thousand times a day
And ask her if shell marry me in some old fashioned way
But my silent fears have gripped me
Long before I reach the phone
Long before my tongue has tripped me
Must I always be alone?
Every little thing she does is magic
Everything she do just turns me on
Even though my life before was tragic
Now I know my love for her goes on

Billie Jean Caetano X Michael

Then, closing the tribute for today...tomorrow I intend to revise the 80's and go to the 90's on my selection...two versions of Billie Jean.

Caetano Veloso, a famous Braziliam singer assuming a pop american song and the great Michael for you. Do you like this tribute? Questions about vocablulary or grammar, just post a comment with your e-mail. I will be glad to help you.

Written & composed by michael jackson.

1st verse
She was more like a beauty queen from a movie scene
I said dont mind, but what do you mean I am the one
Who will dance on the floor in the round
She said I am the one who will dance on the floor in the round
2nd verse
She told me her name was billie jean, as she caused a scene
Then every head turned with eyes that dreamed of being the one
Who will dance on the floor in the round

Bridge
People always told me be careful of what you do
And dont go around breaking young girls hearts
And mother always told me be careful of who you love
And be careful of what you do cause the lie becomes the truth

Chorus
Billie jean is not my lover
Shes just a girl who claims that I am the one
But the kid is not my son
She says I am the one, but the kid is not my son

3rd verse
For forty days and forty nights
The law was on her side
But who can stand when shes in demand
Her schemes and plans
cause we danced on the floor in the round
So take my strong advice, just remember to always think twice
(do think twice)

4th verse
She told my baby,we where dancing still 3:00
Then she looked at me, she show me a photo
My baby cried, cause his eyes where like mine

Bridge
People always told me be careful of what you do
And dont go around breaking young girls hearts
She came and stood right by me
Then the smell of sweet perfume
This happened much too soon
She called me to her room
Chorus
Billie jean is not my lover
Shes just a girl who claims that I am the one
But the kid is not my son
Billie jean is not my lover
Shes just a girl who claims that I am the one
But the kid is not my son
She says I am the one, but the kid is not my son
She says I am the one, but the kid is not my son
Billie jean is not my lover
Shes just a girl who claims that I am the one
But the kid is not my son
She says I am the one, but the kid is not my son
She says I am the one, she says he is my son
She says I am the one
Billie jean is not my lover
Billie jean is not my lover
Billie jean is not my lover
Billie jean is not my lover
Billie jean is not my lover
Billie jean is not my lover

Beat it

Continuing my tribute to Michael Jackson, while stimulating you to take a look at his background in pop music to study, while listening, I have selected Beat it. I loved to try to make his steps on this...

Sing together:

"Beat It"

[1st Verse]
They Told Him Don't You Ever Come Around Here
Don't Wanna See Your Face, You Better Disappear
The Fire's In Their Eyes And Their Words Are Really Clear
So Beat It, Just Beat It

[2nd Verse]
You Better Run, You Better Do What You Can
Don't Wanna See No Blood, Don't Be A Macho Man
You Wanna Be Tough, Better Do What You Can
So Beat It, But You Wanna Be Bad

[Chorus]
Just Beat It, Beat It, Beat It, Beat It
No One Wants To Be Defeated
Showin' How Funky Strong Is Your Fight
It Doesn't Matter Who's Wrong Or Right
Just Beat It, Beat It
Just Beat It, Beat It
Just Beat It, Beat It
Just Beat It, Beat It

[3rd Verse]
They're Out To Get You, Better Leave While You Can
Don't Wanna Be A Boy, You Wanna Be A Man
You Wanna Stay Alive, Better Do What You Can
So Beat It, Just Beat It

[4th Verse]
You Have To Show Them That You're Really Not Scared
You're Playin' With Your Life, This Ain't No Truth Or Dare
They'll Kick You, Then They Beat You,
Then They'll Tell You It's Fair
So Beat It, But You Wanna Be Bad

[Chorus]
Just Beat It, Beat It, Beat It, Beat It
No One Wants To Be Defeated
Showin' How Funky Strong Is Your Fight
It Doesn't Matter Who's Wrong Or Right

[Chorus]
Just Beat It, Beat It, Beat It, Beat It
No One Wants To Be Defeated
Showin' How Funky Strong Is Your Fight
It Doesn't Matter Who's Wrong Or Right
Just Beat It, Beat It, Beat It, Beat It, Beat It

[Chorus]
Beat It, Beat It, Beat It, Beat It
No One Wants To Be Defeated
Showin' How Funky Strong Is Your Fight
It Doesn't Matter Who's Wrong Or Right

[Chorus]
Just Beat It, Beat It, Beat It, Beat It
No One Wants To Be Defeated
Showin' How Funky Strong Is Your Fight
It Doesn't Matter Who's Wrong Or Who's Right

[Chorus]
Just Beat It, Beat It, Beat It, Beat It
No One Wants To Be Defeated
Showin' How Funky Strong Is Your Fight
It Doesn't Matter Who's Wrong Or Right

[Chorus]
Just Beat It, Beat It, Beat It, Beat It
No One Wants To Be Defeated
Showin' How Funky Strong Is Your Fight
It Doesn't Matter Who's Wrong Or Right
Just Beat It, Beat It
Beat It, Beat It, Beat It

I´ll be there

Well, there is no how to pass through it withou mentioning anything about. I grow up listening and trying to dance with Michael Jackson. He was a genius and unfortunatelly envolved in so many escaldals. But, my heart believes he was a great guy and with many family problems. Even though, his voice, his carism, his performance when dancing and he investiments on concerts, video clips put us into a magic era. I love this song and thinking about people we love and how we need special people be there when we need, here is this song, I dedicate to his children and to orfans in general.

You and I must make a pact, we must bring salvation back
Where there is love, I'll be there

I'll reach out my hand to you, I'll have faith in all you do
Just call my name and I'll be there

I'll be there to comfort you,
Build my world of dreams around you, I'm so glad that I found you
I'll be there with a love that's strong
I'll be your strength, I'll keep holding on

Let me fill your heart with joy and laughter
Togetherness, well that's all I'm after
Whenever you need me, I'll be there
I'll be there to protect you, with an unselfish love that respects you
Just call my name and I'll be there

If you should ever find someone new, I know he'd better be good to you
'Cause if he doesn't, I'll be there
Don't you know, baby, yeah yeah
I'll be there, I'll be there, just call my name, I'll be there

(Just look over your shoulders, honey - oo)

I'll be there, I'll be there, whenever you need me, I'll be there
Don't you know, baby, yeah yeah

I'll be there, I'll be there, just call my name, I'll be there...

English at the home office

She is so graceful and elegant. If you come to have class in my house, probabbly, will enjoy something to eat and have class in the gardener, like she did. So, what are you waiting? One of the good things of learning a language in a different space than a regular class is the quantity of experience using the language you are going to have. As her! So, Welcome Nanda.

Lugar incomum

É bacana ouvir a Erika entrevistar nativos. Me conte aqui sua experiência.

Brothers, English and HQs

Here is a good reason for you to use your time surfing on the net reading in English. Braziliam Storytellers and twin brothers (I loved I had twins) keep a blog. So, inspiration to read in English of the week. Go there now and tell me here on the comments, your impressions. Fabio Moon and Gabriel Ba wait for you on their blog. See you!

Ps: Jane will present us with a picture of her kissing U2 cd. Keep watching us!

U2 cds finally

Hi Guys, finally I found the U2 CDs. In March I haven´t founded them. Sorry. Nana from Sweet Cherry gave me a tip of having the gifts before launching the promo and it is the obvious thing I am adopting since them. Anyway, Jane from Mulheres (Im)possiveis, Nana from Sweet Cherry, Angela from Scraps e outras paixoes and Michelle (which image is above...I have not founded any blog) please e-mail your addresses to marcelle@decsolucoes.com.br or marcellerebelo@yahoo.com.

If possible, please send me the addresses today. I was sick (in bed) and I am on vacation and there is no post office near my house and TODAY, I am in Rio, downtown...so, it would be perfect.

By the way...the songs are HITS, so, even though they are not real fans of the Irish band, they will like the cd:
City of Blinding lights
Window in the skies
Sometimes you can´t make it on your own
The Saints are coming
Vertigo
Where the streets have no name
Sunday Bloody Sunday
Elevation
New year´s day
Beautiful day
Pride (In the name of love)
Walk on
I still haven´t foundwhat I am looking for
Stay (Faraway, so close)
With or without you
One
Stuck in a momet you can´t get out of
Sweetest Thing

Which one you want to see here with the lyrics?

A little joy

Hi, as some of you already know, I am pregnant and at this moment, I have to be in bed and there are two weeks I have to stay in bed and no classes. Unless, the student come at home. So, to have a "little joy", I am posting this song for you.

Have you heard about this band? It is on the "independent" scenario and there is Amarante, the guy from Los Hermanos trying and betting on the independence again after having trying the fame. Check their profile on My Space.
The song I saw another day at Multishow:
No One's Better Sake :No One's Better Side
One thought, has me turning back
A dozen point the other way
We act upon desire
To reach your hand for higher
And patience isn't worth the wait
You've got knifes in your eyes
You would be happy not to change your mind
I can't defend you truly
When I worry about smoke instead of putting out the fire
And if we work it out
Chances are bound we'd be standing aroundfor no one's better sakegood-bye
What are we waiting for?
What are we waiting for?
What are we waiting for?
What are we waiting for?
What are we waiting for?
What are we waiting for?
What are we waiting for?
How faint might that light become
You focus 'bout miles away
Although my position
Just gives you ammunition
You're certain that
I know my place
So is this how it ends
Oh with a whimper instead of bang
I can't defend you truly
When I worry about smoke instead of putting out the fire
And if we work it out
Chances are bound we'd be standing around
for no one's better sakegood-bye
We would be friendsif we'd try again
I'd take second placejust to end thisfor no one's better sakeGood-bye

Special class, international meeting

Ficou tentado? Contrate o pacote Basic Survival e aproveite! Escreva para marcellerebelo@yahoo.com

April Fool´s day ou dia da mentira

Pois é, dia 01 de abril é o April Fool´s day ou All Fool´s day.

Take a look at this list of the best 100 hoaxies: http://www.museumofhoaxes.com/hoax/aprilfool/
I specially recommend this list. I loved the tattoo sleeves, what about you?

Beach or Bitch? Homophones

Me conte seu resultado, comente no post and good luck!

Se preferir, prepare-se aqui antes;

Super tip - Paper toys

So, I have the habit of stymulating people to study English doing things they love. So, this is a super tip for you that love playing with paper. I am enchanted by this website. It is called Paper Toys and it has very easy ways of spending an afternoon with kids, with your love, with grandparents or by yourself.

I will test some and take some pictures as soon I have time.

The good for grammar here is that you can study the IMPERATIVES. Very commom for manual, guides, instructions.

Please if you take this opportunity and CREATE PAPER TOYS. PLEEEEEEEEEEASE, take a picture and send by e-mail: marcellerebelo@yahoo.com
Reading and learning making toys in English is fantastic! Go ahead!

Rossana Fernandes disse...
"Segue a resposta maissssssss elaboradaaaaaaa. "
Jane Murback disse...
"After a very exaustive research, my reply is: the plant is a clover with three leaves. I'm mentalazing: I have to win , I have to win. Bring me my clover, please!!!Kisses

Muffins!!!!!!!! One of my passions!

Well, my special friend, twin soul, sister, Nana from Tudo por 1,99 delighted me with this gift. She advertised Learn English with Kisa blog in a cute way, as she always does things (cutely...).

So, I have to post here the translation to this delicious receipt after people ask for the translation on her blog. If you want the translation, go there!

Ingredients:(Mixture makes 12 muffins)

1/3 cup oil

1/3 cup brown sugar

1 egg, lightly beaten

1/2 cup of NESTLE caramel top 'n' fill

1 1/2 cups self raising flour1 packet choc chips (or 1 cup)

1/4 cup milkCombine oil, sugar and egg in bowl.

Stir in Nestle caramel top 'n' fill.

Lightly fold in flour and remaining ingredients.

Cook in moderate oven 180 degrees for about 20 - 25 minutes (in muffin pan).

O que? Tu não sabe inglês? Eu também não. Então vamos dar as mãos e pedir ajuda nesse blog aqui.
Traduzirei se for pedido, hein! Valeu Nana.

Do you like Promos?

So, if you like promos and gifts, here is a good chance! Read the post http://learnenglishwithkisa.blogspot.com/2009/03/saint-patricks-day.html and answer:

a) What is the plant that represent St. Patrick´s day?

Post your comment with the answer. There will be a raffle on March 16th and the winner will receive an U2 cd.

It is a good way to stimulate you reading in English and writing in English. But you can answer in Portuguese. Reading is already a big thing, ok?

Why U2? You may ask! Because they are an Irish band and it is an Irish date.

Notice a curious thing: U2 chose this name for the band because the pronunciation is like YOU TOO (they wanted everybody would be touched by their songs and also because it is the Air Force Spy plane (read more here). Did you know it?

Talking about it, let´s review countries and nationalities. Do this exercise and write a comment telling me about your performance, ok?

Do you know that nationalities have to be written in CAPITAL letters?

Eg. Braziliam, Canadian, Spanish.

Good luck!
